The following records are recommended for domains with web services hosted by Irish Domains:
NAME | TYPE | TTL | TARGET |
@ | ALIAS | 3600 | servername.hosting.ie |
www | ALIAS | 3600 | servername.hosting.ie |
Important: "servername" is the name of the hosting server providing your domain's web hosting service - do not enter this literally.
You should obtain the correct server name from your Irish Domains account by viewing the service details page for the hosting service in question.
Click "Services" -> "My Services" and select "View Details" for the hosting service in question.
The server name can be obtained by clicking the "Hosting Information" tab near the bottom of the page.
If the domain is the primary domain on the service, usually the above records will have been configured by default.
You should configure these records for any add-on domains on your service, or where DNS has recently moved back to Irish Domains.
This can be done via your Irish Domains account, by clicking "Domains" -> "Manage DNS" and clicking the "Edit DNS Zone" icon beside the domain in question.
Where a hosted domain is on the name servers of an external DNS provider, records should instead be configured on that provider's system.
Note that some DNS providers do not support ALIAS (or ANAME) records, so the records below can be used instead:
NAME | TYPE | TTL | IP ADDRESS |
@ | A | 3600 | 79.170.X.X |
www | A | 3600 | 79.170.X.X |
Important: "79.170.X.X" is the IP address of the server providing your domain's web hosting service - do not enter this literally.
You should obtain the correct IP address from your Irish Domains account by viewing the service details page for the hosting service in question.
Click "Services" -> "My Services" and select "View Details" for the hosting service in question.
The IP address can be obtained by clicking the "Hosting Information" tab near the bottom of the page.
